The Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI)

The Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) is the only non-university affiliated research institute to be part of the National Institute of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science award. It is a fusion of the Scripps Research Institute (one of the worlds’ largest non-profit biomedical research organizations) and the Scripps Health system (an integrated health system in California). It aims to replace standardised, population level, approaches with a new era of personalised care.

Why are we stopping here?

STSI is a unique undertaking – fusing deep experience in biomedical research, with a health system and a vast quantity of patient data. Under the leadership of Dr. Eric Topol, STSI is taking on the challenges of not only the next generation of medicine, but also is laying the foundations for the generation after that, too.
Focusing on genetic, epigenomics and microbiome research, STSI is moving away from offering healthcare to average members of a population, and towards a world in which all medical interaction is personalised. STSI is a pioneer in digital and wireless medicine, taking advantage of both to enable real-time health monitoring – allowing another avenue of health information to be integrated with new genetic and personalised data.
A stop spent witnessing how partnerships throughout the healthcare chain – from bench to patient – can contribute to a better understanding of how to treat those most in need. Find out more at .
